FAIRFIELD, CT - Sacred Heart University senior pitcher Jay Monti was named to the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star team today. Monti, a member of the Holyoke (MA) Giants, will be the starter for the South squad.

Monti has compiled a 4-0 record in the NECBL this summer, with a stingy 1.85 ERA. He has 41 strikeouts, second best in the league, and has walked just eight batters. He was named NECBL Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 15 after striking out 13 in a 3-0 complete-game win over Concord.

The NECBL All-Star game will be played in Keene, NH on July 23.
