FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart baseball team finds itself in the NCAA playoffs, despite getting off to an 0-11 start. SHU lost ten straight on its Florida trip in March, then came back north and got drubbed by the University of Connecticut. Since that time, the Pioneers are 26-17 and have run off win streaks of five, six and seven games. They will open the tournament on Friday at 7:00 p.m. against the University of Georgia in Athens, GA.

This is the first time Sacred Heart University has qualified for the Division I baseball playoffs. The Pioneers did appear in five NCAA Division II Regionals, and twice made the NCAA Division II World Series (1976 and 1992).
