FAIRFIELD, CT - Senior first baseman Jeff Hanson was named Division I All-New England this afternoon by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) coaches. Hanson finished the year hitting a career-high .425 with 12 homers and 54 RBI.

Hanson, from Woodstock, NY, helped the Pioneers to their first-ever winning season in Division I this year with a 29-27-1 record as SHU reached the Northeast Conference championship game before falling to eventual champion Monmouth. His .425 batting average led the NEC.

The 6'5, 245-pound slugger closed his career with a .379 average, 26 homers and a school-record 144 runs batted in. He also became just the third player in school history to amass 200 hits (215) and his 58 career doubles is also a school record.

Hanson is now eligible to play in the 2009 NEIBA All-Star Game on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, MA.
