FAIRFIELD, CT - Junior second baseman Jason Maiella (N. Haledon, NJ) was named First Team All-Northeast Conference today on the eve of the NEC's post-season tournament. Maiella was the lone Pioneer selected. Sophomore first baseman Jeff Hanson (Woodstock, NY) was named to the second team.

Maiella is hitting .309 with 56 hits, 32 RBI, 30 runs, 15 doubles, two triples, three home runs and five stolen bases, while notching a .923 fielding percentage from his second base slot. He is tied for second in the NEC with four sacrifice flies, is tied for fourth in doubles, and is tied for seventh in hits.

Hanson leads Sacred Heart and ranks seventh in the NEC in batting average at .342. He is fourth in the NEC in slugging percentage (.562), fifth in on-base percentage (.443), ninth in runs batted in (36), fourth in doubles (15) and fifth in home runs (5).

The Pioneers take on Central Connecticut State on Thursday at noon in the first game of the double-elimination NEC Tournament being held in Lakewood, NJ.
