FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart University baseball team qualified for its second straight Northeast Conference Tournament with a three-game sweep of FDU last weekend. The Tournament kicks off Thursday at noon when SHU takes on the top-seeded Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State.
The Blue Devils defeated Sacred Heart two out of three times in a weekend series on May 6-7. Sacred Heart won the first game 1-0 behind Jay Monti. Central won game two, 4-0, and finished off the series by winning 10-8 on Sunday. Central Connecticut holds a 17-8 edge in the series that dates back to 1978. CCSU leads 16-6 edge since SHU turned Division I in 1999.
