Baseball Faces Stony Brook Tuesday
March 26, 2007
FAIRFIELD, CT - The Sacred Heart University baseball team will take on Stony Brook tomorrow at 4:00 at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, NY. The game against the Seawolves replaces the scheduled game against the University of Massachusetts. The UMass game has been postponed until April 18, due to an unplayable field.
SHU vs. Stony Brook: This will be the first time these two teams have met since the 2000 season when they split a pair of games. The Seawolves bombed the Pioneers 19-6 early in the year, but SHU came back to beat Stony Brook 4-3 in the final game of the season.
New Year, New Start: The Pioneers are off to a better start in 2007 season than last year when they lost the first 11 games of the season. SHU lost ten straight on its Florida trip in March, then came back north and got drubbed by the University of Connecticut. The Pioneers were 2-12 after 14 games. Despite the start the Pioneers still qualified for the NCAA Tournament, runing off win streaks of five, six and seven games.
