FAIRFIELD, CT - Sacred Heart baseball coach Nick Giaquinto announced today that John Murphy, a shortstop from Seymour, CT, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Pioneer program starting this fall.
For Seymour High School last season he hit an impressive .506 with 44 hits, three homers and 26 RBI. He was named second team All-State and was invited to the CT State Junior All-Star Game. He also played American Legion baseball during the summer and was selected for that all-star game as well.
As a sophomore he helped lead Seymour to the Class M State Championship. Murphy made the All-Valley Team and hit .316 with 32 hits, three home runs, and an on base percentage of .435.
An excellent all-around athlete, Murphy has also played three years of varsity basketball for Seymour.
"We are very excited to have a player of John's caliber be a part of the Pioneer baseball program for the next four years," said Giaquinto.
