BRIDGEPORT, CT - Senior pitcher Bryan Rembisz struck out 15 batters over eight innings, allowing just one unearned run, as the Vermont Catamount baseball team defeated Sacred Heart 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Sacred Heart, 8-11, got its only run in the eighth inning on a bases-loaded walk by Rembisz. It was the only walk he would issue all afternoon.
The Catamounts got the only runs it would need in the third inning on a three-run homer by shortstop Jim Chapman off SHU starter Jared Balbach. Balbach retired the first eight batters he faced, but then gave up a two-out hit in the third and walked Rembisz. Chapman followed with his blow over the left field wall.
Balbach went the first five innings for the Pioneers, giving up four earned runs. Chris Zaccherio pitched well out of the bullpen, giving up just one run in three innings. George Lamar pitched a scoreless ninth.
