Box Score

BRIDGEPORT, CT - Junior catcher Larry Day (Amesbury, MA) drove home four runs with a pair of singles while junior Matt Untiet (Berlin, CT) drove in three to help the University of Connecticut baseball team to an easy 20-1 win over host Sacred Heart University on a windy Wednesday afternoon. The game was called after seven innings because of darkness.

UConn, 8-5, scored four in the first inning off SHU starter Chris Howard (Ghent, NY) on a pair of two-run doubles by sophomore Pat Mahoney and Untiet. They would strike for seven in the third inning off Pioneer reliever Mike Milazzo (Staten Island, NY). Day had a two-run double while Erik Turgeon drove home two more with a single.

Husky starter John Slusarz (Farmington, CT) went the first three innings and gave up the lone Pioneer run on an RBI fielder's choice by Josh Enos that scored Dave Kaloyanides, who led off the SHU first with a single.
