Senior righthander Jay Monti has been the rock of the Pioneer pitching staff the last three seasons. He is currently 8-2 with a league-leading 0.81 ERA. He has struck out 50 batters in 66 1/3 innings, allowing just 47 hits. Opponents are hitting just .190 against him. He has thrown seven complete games, and has a two-hit shutout over Notre Dame to his credit this season.

Monti, the 2005 Pitcher of the Year in the NEC and a pre-season First Team Selection, was 8-5 with a 3.50 ERA last year and has been drawing the attention of Major League scouts all season.

His 24 career victories is third best all-time at SHU and his 207 career strikeouts ranks third. His 2.49 career ERA is the best ever for a Sacred Heart pitcher.
