Fairfield, Conn – The Sacred Heart baseball team moved down a slot to number five in this week's New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Poll, announced Monday. The Pioneers are 18-15 this season, with a record of 5-3 in the NEC. SHU opened the season at number three in the NEIBA poll.
Sacred Heart is coming off one of its worst weekends of the season, losing three out of four games to the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers. Kody Kerski (Waterbury, CT) was one of the few bright spots for SHU, pitching eight scoreless innings on Thursday afternoon to bring home Sacred Heart's lone win of the series. Kerski is now 6-1 on the season with a 1.30 ERA, which ranks first in the NEC and 23rd in the country. The Mount swept the Friday night doubleheader as SHU mounted just three runs and a combined seven hits in the two games.
The Pioneers will look to rebound this week as they host the Fairfield Stags tomorrow afternoon before welcoming the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds to town this weekend for a four-game set.
