FAIRFIELD, Conn – Sophomore right fielder Jayson Sullivan (Charlton, NY) has been named Northeast Conference Player of the Week after an impressive opening week of baseball in Louisiana.
Sullivan batted .350 (7-for-20) in five games last week, and reached base safely in all contests. The second-year Pioneer smacked two home runs, including a solo shot in the top of the first inning against the eighth ranked LSU Tigers. Sullivan also smacked a two-run bomb in the ninth inning of Saturday's game against Southeastern Louisiana. In Sacred Heart's series-clinching win over Tulane on Monday, Sullivan went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
As a freshman, Sullivan batted .282 with 17 RBI in 56 games.
Sacred Heart takes on UCONN tomorrow afternoon at Baseball Heaven in Long Island, with first pitch set for 3 pm.
