Boath Perfect at Wesleyan as Pioneers Finish Second

HEBRON, CONN. (February 8, 2014)—Riley Boath was a perfect 4-0 and captured the blue ribbon in Walk/Trot at the IHSA English competition hosted by Wesleyan at Windcrest Farms in Hebron, Conn. Boath's was one of three first place ribbons that put the Sacred Heart equestrian team in second place with 34 points.

Competing in frigid temperatures—it was only seven degrees at the start—Alison Brosky (Manhasset, N.Y) and Hayley Mena (Huntington, N.Y.) finished first in Intermediate Fences and Novice Fences respectively.

The Pioneers snagged four second place ribbons throughout the competition. Senior Allison Buccos (East Moriches, N.Y.) took second in Open Fences, while Taylor DiBella (Holmdel, N.J.) was second in Open Flat. In addition to her blue ribbon, Mena also finished second in Novice Flat, and Melissa Yacubich (Shoreham, N.Y.) took second in Novice Flat.

Yacubich and DiBella also took home a third place finish each in Novice Fences and Open Fences respectively. Katie Gray (Colchester, Vt.), Cortney Sevigny (Thompson, Conn.) and Sara Ann Scorpa (Lanesboro, Mass.) rounded out Sacred Heart's 13 top three finishes taking third in Intermediate Flat, and Novice Flat.

Sacred Heart's western squad will be back in action next Saturday at Wesleyan starting at 10:00 a.m.
