SHU Equestrian Tied for Second at UConn Western Competition

STORRS, CONN. (February 1, 2014)—The Sacred Heart equestrian team finished tied for second at the IHSA Western competition hosted by the University of Connecticut Saturday. With the 17 point finish, the Pioneers move into fourth place overall for regional point standings.


Freshmen Emma Sands (Hopkinton, N.Y.) and Melissa Yacubich (Shoreham, N.Y.) took home blue ribbons for SHU in Intermediate Horsemanship and Novice Horsemanship respectively.


Noelle Bianculli (Ramsey, N.J.) and Maggie Vogel (S. Acworth, N.H.) finished second in Intermediate Horsemanship and Advanced Horsemanship. Senior Alison Buccos (East Moriches, N.Y.) claimed Sacred Heart's only third place finish in Novice Horsemanship, as Katie Gray (Colchester, Vt.) took fourth in Open Horsemanship.
