SHU High Point Team in Second Straight Competition

SOUTHBURY, CONN. (October 12, 2013)—In their second straight Hunt Seat competition of the year, the Sacred Heart Equestrian team was the High Point Team with 46 points, beating out second place Connecticut by an eight-point margin. Senior Allison Buccos (East Moriches, N.Y.) qualified for the IHSA Regional Championship taking first place in Intermediate Flat and Fences, and was the competition's High Point Rider.

The Pioneers claimed eight first place finishes in competition. In addition to Buccos' two, Brianna Formicola took first in Walk/Trot, Cortney Sevigny (Thompson, Conn.) and Katherine Byrne (Annandale, Va.) in Novice Flat, Abigail Williams and Melissa Yacubich (Shoreham, N.Y.) finished first in Novice Fences, Katie Gray (Colchester, Vt.) nabbed first in Intermediate Fences and Jocelyn Alfieri (Darien, Conn.) took first in Open Fences. 

Sacred Heart nabbed three other Top 5 finishes at the Yale University-hosted event. Gabriella Tauro (East Lyme, Conn.) took second place in Intermediate Flat, while Natalie Cafasso (Derby, Conn.) and Rebecca Salberg (Rockaway, N.J.) each snagged a third place spot in Novice Flat and Novice Fences respectively. Danielle Belson (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) took fifth place in Walk/Trot/Canter.
