The three-level, 141,000 square foot William H. Pitt Center, which opened in August 1997, serves as the home court for six of Sacred Heart NCAA Division I programs. The recently renovated complex features a four-court layout and seats over 2,000 people for basketball.

The main level of the center houses 4,500 square feet of clinical space dedicated to the Sacred Heart University Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center. Contained in this space are examination rooms, faculty offices, and therapy labs as well as a physical therapy clinic.

The Pitt Center's lower level boasts both an aerobics room and a 5,000-plus square-foot weight training facility, which includes both cardiovascular equipment and free weights. Locker rooms for our athletic teams and our members are also located on the lower level. It also contains the Pioneer Wrestling Room for our wrestling team and the basketball, football and athletic training offices.

The upper level of the Pitt Center contains the Department of Athletics office suite and the Board Room, which serves as a meeting room for the University’s Board of Trustees and for other on-campus groups. Over the years, the Pitt Center has hosted numerous events, including the 1998 U.S. Open professional bowling championships, and summer basketball camps led by such NBA stars as Vin Baker, Allan Houston, Charles Smith and Charlie Ward.

The Pitt Center served as the host of the 2003 and 2009 Northeast Conference Women's Basketball Tournaments, as well as the 2010 Northeast Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament. It also served as the site of the NEC Women's Basketball Championship games in 2006, 2009 and 2012, and the 2008 NEC Men's Basketball Championship game. The Pioneers have claimed four NEC crowns on the floor of the Pitt Center, three in women's basketball (2006, 2009 and 2012) and twice in women's volleyball (2010 and 2016).

The attendance record for the William H. Pitt Center currently stands at 2,774, set March 12, 2008 during the Northeast Conference men's basketball championship game against Mount St. Mary's.  The Pioneer Fencing program hosted the SHU Invitational inside the Pitt Center in 2010.  The event is the most prestigious competition of the season, featuring six national powerhouse teams, numerous All-Americans, and several Olympians.
