The Sacred Heart softball team moved to Pioneer Park with the transition to division I, playing on the new field for the first time in 2000.  The park is located at the bottom of the Jefferson Hill, down the street from the William H. Pitt center.  The left field fence of Pioneer Park is ten feet high and is shared with the Pioneer Tennis Courts.  The Scholars Commons residence halls are situated just beyond foul territory along the right field line.

Beginning in 2007, Pioneer Park serves as the host for the annual Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) high school softball tournament.  The facility had a new scoreboard installed in center field for the 2008 season.  The Pioneers are now able to hang up two championship banners on the outfield fence on game day after winning the 2009 and 2011 Northeast Conference Tournament.
