With the kick-off of the 2008-2009 season, Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, Rick Cohen begins his fourth year at Sacred Heart. He will be the main contact for the men's soccer, field hockey, men's ice hockey, swimming, tennis, men's volleyball and men's lacrosse teams.
Cohen provides color commentary on various SHU broadcasts on the Pioneer Radio Network and WICC 600 AM. In 2007, he was awarded the Alvin Clinkscales Pioneer Sports Award for outstanding contribution and loyalty to the Sacred Heart Athletic Department.
In addition to his work at SHU, Cohen has served as an official scorer for the Bridgeport Bluefish minor league baseball team for the last three seasons.
Cohen is a 2005 graduate of Ithaca College's Park School of Communications where he majored in journalism. During his time at Ithaca, Cohen was heavily involved with the school's award-winning radio and television stations, working in the sports department of both organizations. He served as producer for the radio station's football pre-game show, conducting interviews with players and coaches for the show. In addition he provided radio play-by-play and color commentary for several of Ithaca's teams. On the TV side Cohen served as a sports producer for Ithaca College television station's news program.
A life-long Connecticut resident, Cohen is a passionate sports fan. He lives in Trumbull.
