FAIRFIELD, CT - Jeff Holtz, the voice of the Pioneers for the last six years, will return for his seventh behind the mic when the 2007 football season gets underway August 31 at Assumption College. Holtz will call play-by-play action for football, men's and women's basketball and men's hockey on the Pioneer Radio Network.
"We are thrilled to be able to have our signature voice back with us," said SHU Assistant AD Gene Gumbs. "Not only is it great for the University to have a pro like Jeff leading our broadcasts, I am thrilled because it means I get to work with him on most of the games this season."
Holtz and Gumbs will teamup for about 65 games this season, while he will team with Bill Peterson for a few football games on the road, and Rick Cohem on road hockey games.
Holtz, who also calls games for the Bridgeport Bluefish and works as a stringer for the New York Times, joined the Pioneer family in 2001 and called games during the 11-0 football season that saw SHU claim the National Mid-Major Championship.
