The Women’s Club Softball team at Sacred Heart will begin its seventh season as a club sport in 2015-2016.
The team is very competitive and made up of 25 women who are on the official NCSA Roster as well as 5 practice squad players
The team is a member of the National Club Softball Association (NCSA) which consists of 110 teams throughout the country. We compete in the New England Region-South Division which is made up of SHU, Rutgers University, Monmouth University, Hartwick College, Lafayette College and Montclair St. University. SHU will play each of its opponents in 3 game series throughout the fall and spring. We will also play in many non-conference games including NYU, CCRI and a trip down to the University of Virginia to compete in the Cavalier Classic.
After not finding much sustained success the team broke through during the 2013-2014 season by receiving their first ever big to Regionals and ultimately a bid to the NCSA World Series. SHU was placed in a pool with the University of Kentucky, University of Georgia and Arkansas St. University. The World Series was won by the University of Florida who defeated Florida St. University. The Pioneers would make a second consecutive trip to the Regional Playoffs in 2014-2015 but would come up short in a bid for another World Series appearance.
The coaching staff believes that the team can make a third consecutive post season appearance and a real shot to again play for a chance at the World Series.
