FAIRFIELD, Conn – Senior forward Mostafa Abdel Latif (Alexandria, Egypt) has been named this week’s Sacred Heart Student Athlete of the Week. Abdel Latif is the first men’s basketball player to win the award this season.
Mostafa averaged 13.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two games this week as the Pioneers opened up the Northeast Conference season. The senior forward poured in a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds, his second double-double of the season, in a 79-70 loss to Robert Morris on Thursday night. The 6’8’’ rebound machine followed that up with 10 points and 8 rebounds as the Pioneers won their first NEC game of the year with a 71-67 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. In his last five games, Abdel Latif has averaged 9.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Abdel Latif and the rest of the Pioneers will look for their second consecutive win on Thursday night when they travel to take on the Bryant Bulldogs.
